About Us

We are a small hobby kennel located in Hartwell, GA.  Our kennel is located in the Reed Creek Area on the shores of beautiful Lake Hartwell.  Moving to Lake Hartwell was a 20 year dream fulfilled for us.

How Labs?

I have had a love of dogs all my life, but my introduction to Labs came when a friend told me she had become a “puppy raiser”… and the next thing you know I was on the phone talking to the dedicated manger of the Guide Dog program, Jim Durrance.   Jim aside from being a gifted guide dog trainer, along with his wife, Jenny, is a breeder of Bernise Mountain Dogs.  Together they have taken multiple dogs to their Championship and along the way accumulated multiple obedience titles and carting titles.  We are proud to count Jenny and Jim among our “dog” friends as well as being part of our mentoring team.

When I learned that Labradors and only Labradors were chosen for their guide dog program; I was thrilled for, at that time, I did not even think that Labs were “all that pretty.”  I was confident I could raise this puppy and more importantly part with it when the time came 16 mo. later.  I can hear you all laughing…by the time I had left the Guide Dog Kennel with my 10 week old black puppy, Josh, securely in my arms, I was a goner…hook, line and sinker…never to have my heart be the same!

So…where are we now?

Four years (and four Labs) later…we are consumed with our Labs…they have become my passion and my husband loves them and supports me at every turn.  I was fortunate enough to find Carrie Eberhardt at LegaSea Labs in Dallas, TX.  Carrie took a chance on me.  I can never thank Carrie enough for trusting me with my beautiful boy, soon to become my very first Champion at the tender age of 21 mo….Ch. LegaSea’s Icing on the Cake “Bonus” and for continuing to mentor me with my thousands of questions.

Where are we going?

My vision is to move towards breeding a line of Labradors that can do what they were bred to do; known by their sound temperament, with structure that reflects the beauty of their movement, balance and strength; not just the current fad.  In my journey I am meeting many, many other breeders who share this same vision and whose breeding program reflects this.

So please, take a moment, wander through my website; which currently is simply a photo journey.  My hope is that you will learn a little about who we are and a lot about the dogs who love us and whose lives are entrusted in our care…that this site will capture a bit about the kind of dog this wonderful lab really is!
